Dr. Ruth L. Baskerville enjoyed forty-two years in public school education, serving as a high school English and theatre teacher, school administrator K-12, and member of central office in the capacities of human resources/ personnel director, and curriculum and staff development director. She came out of retirement to become Principal of City of Life Orlando Christian Academy in 2014-15, especially enjoying Chapel at the start of each school day.
Waverly was an organ donor, and TransLife Organ & Tissue Donation Center in Winter Park helped Dr. Ruth create a “Quilt Square,” depicting the highlights of a man full of life. Quilt Squares are hand-sewn onto large murals, and carried to places where TransLife hopes to add to the list of unselfish persons who give the precious gift of life when they transition from this life themselves.
“Dr. Ruth,” as she’s affectionately called, earned a B. A. in Secondary English from the State University College at Fredonia, NY, and an M. A. and Ed. D. in Educational Administration and Supervision from Seton Hall University, NJ. She held Principal and Chief School Administrator certification in NJ, FL and GA.
Dr. Ruth is Secretary to the Business Women’s Inspirational Network (BWIN), a member of the African American Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the Trans Life Organ & Tissue Donation Center Multicultural Committee. Besides being the published author of HOODLESS KLAN and FINDING HUMOR IN GRIEF, Dr. Ruth is an editor ghost writer, grant writer, and tutor for students in grades K-12 needing GED, college prep or grade level promotion. When she’s not working, tutoring, or traveling to book signings, Dr. Ruth spends quality time with her daughter, son-in-law and four grandchildren.
